September TMCA Monthly Meeting

Our September Monthly Meeting will be at the Clear Lake Elks Lodge, 623 Hanson Road, Kemah, Texas.

Socializing and dinner orders will begin at 6:00 pm and the business meeting begins at 7:00 pm, with the presentation to follow. 

The speaker will be Dr Quentin Stubbs, PhD who is the Regional Navigation Manager with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).  And he has written the following about himself:

I specialize in maritime transportation, safety, and security, which all contribute to the Blue Economy and natural hazard response. I also specialize in navigation charting and mapping. I also have educational and professional experience in using GIS and remote sensing tools to map and analyze wetlands as well as land use and land cover change.

So navigation charting is what he is going to be talking about, and specifically about charting issues on Galveston Bay and in all of our navigation channels. Philip has been trying for quite awhile to get someone from NOAA to come talk on this topic, but it just never happened, and now that the topic has become somewhat even more complicated, what with the advent of e-charts, and the demise of raster charts, this should be an interesting talk! So please come on out on the 19^th to hear Dr Stubbs.
