That's right, Campers! Make plans now to come to Spring Fling, where this year's theme is Camp Wannaboat! Remember the days of tube socks, shaggy hair and camp songs? It will be an action-packed weekend with a campfire cookout, educational classes, small boat races, lawn games, crafting for young campers, music and more. Time to pull out the ole guitar.
Campers will corral Friday evening around fire-pits for a wiener roast and s'mores, and awaken early on Saturday for flare-shooting (check your expired flares) and other activities of your choosing.
Great educational classes will be offered:
Anchoring
Rope Splicing/Knots
Electrical
Rum Making
Electronics
Preparing to Leave the Dock
Boaters also have the opportunity for a courtesy Coast Guard inspection of their vessel, make arrangements for a pump out, or take a bus ride to visit historic parks and museums in downtown Port Arthur.Campers can grab lunch in town or from a food truck at the marina, and be sure to sign up for the poker dock crawl or try your hand at small boat sailing. Our youngest campers will have arts and crafts, yard games, a bounce house and babysitting offered. No camp experience is complete without a bear - no, a treasure hunt, and campers won't want to miss the Last Chance at camp dance with a DJ and dancing!
On Sunday morning, how about pancakes or a hearty breakfast before racing off to more classes, or that second-favorite they missed on Saturday? Those up for some competition can join a game of BINGO in the afternoon, then gear up for Opti-Race Relays, followed by the camp closing awards ceremony and karaoke.
