You are invited to take a leisurely cruise with Steve & Bron Lee, “m/v Southern Cross”, to Lake Charles.
We are leaving Clear Lake, Marker 2 at 0800 hrs. on Sunday morning Sept.22, and will anchor out that evening in Taylor Outfall. (73nm)
We’re continuing on the next morning to Bord du Lac (municipal marina) in Lake Charles, (56nm).
Our plan is to spend four nights at the marina, Sept.23 – 27.
The marina has nice piers & slips and is adjacent to a beautiful waterfront park.
However, there are no facilities such as showers, restrooms or pump out, so you will need to be self-sufficient.
Diesel and pump out facilities are available at nearby Bow Tie Marina. Diesel is currently $3.50 per gallon as of 8/15. We strongly advise bringing cash if you plan to purchase diesel as they do not guarantee they will be able to accept credit cards by then.
Tentative Plans – Things to do in Lake Charles:
There are many restaurants nearby, the closest being Laguna’s Mexican Grill across the parking lot from the marina. In addition, there are numerous cool, casual restaurants along Ryan Street, 10 – 15 min walk away.
- Imperial Calcasieu Museum – short Uber ride or 20-minute walk
- L’Auberge Casino and Golden Nugget Casino – short Uber ride from marina
- Historic City Hall Arts & Cultural Center
- Dinghy exploration on the lake.
We plan to have at least one shared breakfast and one shared dinner.
Plans are evolving and can be decided as the group comes together. You never know, a game of Hawaiian Bingo or even “Screw Your Neighbor Poker” (bring quarters), might break out sometime during the trip!
We will start heading home on Friday Sept.27, anchoring in Taylor Outfall again, that evening.
