San Bernard Anchor Out Cruise
Join us for a weekend at the San Bernard River. This is a lovely protected anchorage, surrounded by marsh, just south of the ICW, with access to the beach for fun or walking your dogs. There's typically an excess of driftwood on the beach so a bonfire is essential.
This is a great opportunity to either travel the ICW or offshore to Freeport as the San Bernard River is approximately 10 statute miles south of the Freeport intersection, and beyond the Brazos River and associated locks. It's a full day trip for most, unless you have a 'go-fast boat'. The total mileage from the Clear Creek Marker 2 is approximately 65 miles. There's a great navigation writeup on our website for both the ICW and offshore routes under the 'Cruising' tab, then 'Destinatations', and under Freeport Marina. We plan to leave early Friday morning and return Monday.
The cut at the Gulf has recently been dredged but rumor has it that it’s already filling in. There's decent fishing so bring a pole if that’s your thing. We’ll have dinghy excursions and walks on the beach.
This will be a relaxed cruise with a bonfire Friday evening and a potluck Saturday evening.
Let us know if you need additional information. I’ll be posting updates on TMCA’s FB as the date approaches and we will send all registrants an email the week of the trip.
