Come join us April 8-10 or any portion thereof for a cruise up Cedar Bayou!
If you have not made this trip, you are missing out. It is easy navigation, following Philip's great navigation instructions, posted on the TMCA website. We anchor in a very protected channel, with an easy 6+ foot entrance at the channel. This is a casual Cruise, with casual activities planned for the afternoon & evening of April 9. We’ll plan to have a dinghy exploration up the bayou at 2pm on Saturday, April 9. We’ll then follow up with cocktails and a potluck dinner at 5:30. Depending on how many boats we have, we may need to consider rafting a couple of boats for cocktails and dinner.
No worries if you don’t have a dinghy, those of us who do will help shuttle you and help you spend a small fortune by telling you what kind of dinghy you need.
As a reminder, since a barge company took over the Finger Lakes, we now anchor upstream in the 'cooling channel', which is upstream of the old height restrictions so both sail or power can join this cruise. The old height restrictions no longer apply. See the attached photo where I’ve circled 2 key points: 1) where to turn from the ship channel into Cedar Bayou and 2) where to anchor, in the canal directly off of the bayou.
There are limited places to take your dog ashore, but it has been done
Let us know if you would like more specific navigation information.
We’ll send out an email a few days before the event to all who’ve registered so we can coordinate any last-minute details and confirm the weather is still cooperating. This will be the time to figure out who is going when and who you might want to follow if that’s what you prefer to do.
This is a great chance to practice anchoring in a protected anchorage. If you forget to register, that’s okay, come anyway.
