Join us for a weekend at the San Bernard River. This is a lovely protected anchorage, surrounded by marsh, just south of the ICW, with access to the beach for fun or walking your dogs. There's typically an excess of driftwood on the beach so a bonfire is essential.
This is a great opportunity to either travel the ICW or offshore to Freeport as the San Bernard River is approximately 10 statute miles south of the Freeport intersection, and beyond the Brazos River and associated locks. It's a full day trip for most, unless you have a 'go-fast boat'. The total mileage from the Clear Creek Marker 2 is approximately 65 miles. There's a great navigation writeup on our website for both the ICW and offshore routes under the 'Cruising' tab, then 'Destinatations', and under Freeport Marina. Several of us will be returning from southerly destinations so we'll plan to meet at San Bernard.
This is the area that from time to time is dredged out to the Gulf, but currently it is silted in with a small cut allowing for water flow out into the Gulf. There's decent fishing along the cut on the sandbank so bring a pole.
This will be a relaxed cruise with a bonfire Friday evening and a potluck Saturday evening.
Call Russ or Carol if you have any questions.
